Will of John Ackerson of Brighton

This is the last will and testament of me John Ackerson the younger of Brighthelmston in the County of Sussex yeoman. First I order and direct that all my just debts funeral expenses and the expenses of proving this my will be paid and discharged by my executrix herein after named as soon as conveniently may be after my decease and I give, devise and bequeath unto my wife Ann Ackerson her heirs, executors, administrators and assigns all that my freehold messuage or tenement, ground, hereditaments and premises thereunto belonging situate lying and being near the Steine in Brighthelmston aforesaid and also that my moiety or half part of and in all those copyhold, messuages or tenements, stable, coach house, buildings, yard and appurtenances thereunto belonging, situate, lying and being on the east part of the West Street in Brighthelmston aforesaid formerly Tidy’s since that Rothwell’s and late Baker’s and within and holden of the manor of Rusper otherwise Old Shoreham otherwise vetus Shoreham. And also all that my part and share of and in all that sloop or vessel called the Brighton whereof George Wingfield is master and also all my stock of cattle, corn, hay, husbandry, tackle, premises and appurtenances whatsoever to the same belonging And also and singular my household furniture, plate, linen, china and implements of household, ready monies, bonds, bills, notes and securities for money debts to me due and owing and all other my real and personal estate and estates whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature, kind or quality soever the same may be found at the time of my decease. To hold all and singular before mentioned premises and every of them and every part and parcel thereof with their and every of their appurtenances unto her my said wife Ann Ackerson sole executrix of this my will hereby revoking all former wills by me made In Witness whereof I the said John Ackerson the younger the testator to this my last will and testament contained in one sheet of paper have hereunto set my hand and seal this thirty first day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty eight. Signed, sealed, published and declared by the said John Ackerson the younger as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses.
