Shermanbury, Sussex, Anno Domini 1641, February 23. Wee, Gregory Roberdes, Rector of Shermanbury in the County of Sussex, Thomas Michaell and John Jeneson, Churchwardens, John Vincent and Isaac Denman, Overseeers for the Poore and Thomas Dunstall, Headburrough of the same Parishe, haveing taken the Protestation ourselves before Mr. Ralphe Cooper and Mr. Thomas Midlton, Justices of Peace over the same County, and having receavd command from them to commende it to every man in the Parishe above the age of eighteene yeares, these are to certifie that wee have commended it to every man above ye age, and that they have every man taken it without any exception, and yt. ther names are all heer under written.
