With reference to the announcement of the undermentioned awards which appeared in the London Gazette of the 1st January, 1919, the following are the acts of gallantry for which the awards were made : DISTINGUISHED CONDUCT MEDAL. 240078 Cpl. (L. /Sjt. ) A. J. Oyler, 5th Bn. (P), R. Suss. R. (Rye). (ITALY) As Serjeant of the Divisional Observers he has performed much valuable work for the division, in the observance of enemy movement and the transmission of information to Div. H. -Q. His work has been frequently carried out under heavy shell fire. His conduct under these conditions has been gallant and absolutely fearless at all times, and no N. C. O. could have set a better example of courage and determination than he has done.
