Will of Benjamin Dutton of Eastbourne

Date signed: 16 Apr 1764, Probate date: 07 Jan 1765

I Benjamin Dutton of Eastbourne in the county of Sussex ,carpenter being of perfact mind and memory and calling to mind and duely considering the uncertainty of human life make this my last will and testament.

First and principally I commit my soul into the hands of my blessed maker trusting in his mercies and in the merits of my redeemer for the remission of all my sins, my body I commit to the earth to be decently berried at the discretion of my executor hereafter named.

As to my temporal estate I bequeath and dispose of it in the following manner.

First I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Dutton the dwelling house late Thomas Heeys and before Erles ,also one hundred pounds to be paid out of the money arising from the produce of the hutches and groyns.

Also I give and bequeath my son Huddard the house and premises scituated at the seaside in Eastbourne and the dwelling house late Thomas Dennis and also a dwelling house and barn late Thomas Erles also the sum of one hundred and fifty pounds of lawful money arising out of the hutches and all cattle corn husbandry utensils and to discharge all rents that shall be due at my decease.

Also I give ahd bequeath to my son Benjamin all my household goods ,shop goods, timber ,tools ,lead and glass to look after the hutches and groyns and to recive the salary as it becomes payable and to discharge all debts,

Also I give and bequeath to my loving wife the sum of ten pounds of lawful money

And I do nominate and appoint my brother John Dutton Physician and Surgeon at Lindfield in the county of Sussex and James Bellingham of Hooe in the said county of Sussex, Gentleman to be joint executors to this my last will and testament and I do hereby utterly revoke ,disallow and disannul all former bequests wills and legacies by me heretofore in any wise left or made declaring ratifying and confirming this and no other to be to be will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal.
