With, reference to the announcement of the undermentioned awards which appeared in the London Gazette of the 12th March, 1919, the following are the acts of gallantry for which the awards were made: AWARDED THE DISTINGUISHED CONDUCT MEDAL. 350477 Pte. G. Barnett, 2/lst (E. Lan. ) Fd. Amb. , R. A. M. C. , T. F. (Brighton). On the night of 20th/21st October, 1918, information was received that ten men of the M. G. C. were lying wounded at a farm near Vichte. Under heavy fire, and over unknown country, he guided a party of bearers there and back to a car post, and returned again to complete the evacuation before dawn. He also visited two neighbouring R. A. P. s to make certain they were clear. It was due to his courage and energy that these casualties were successfully evacuated.
