THOMAS MARTEN, of Lewes, in the County of Sussex, Mercer, Draper and Salesman, informs his Friends and the Public, that, owing to his ill State of Health, he has entirely Withdrawn himself from the Business lately carried on by him at his Shop and Warehouses near the Town-Hall of Lewes ; and that the same is now carried on and continued in Trust for his Wife Elizabeth Marten, Copartner with his Nephew William Marten, under the Firm of William Marten and Company, by virtue of a certain Deed or Instrument in Writing made for that Purpose. And all Persons are desired to take Notice, that the said Thomas Marten and Elizabeth Marten will not be answerable or accountable the one for the other for any Acts done or Debts contracted by either of them in future, but each of them for his and their own Acts and Debts only and in all future Transactions relating to the said Copartnership or Trade, Credit is to be given only to the said William Marten and Company; and in all Affairs whatsoever done and Debts contracted by the said Thomas Marten, Credit thereon is to be given to him only, independent of the said Trade or Business, and the Stock thereof, the same being freed, discharged, and made not liable to any Debts he may contract, or other Charges whatsoever, by the abovementioned Deed. All Persons therefore who have any Demands on the said Thomas Marten, are desired to send their respective Accounts to the said Thomas and William Marten, at Lewes, on or before the 25th Day of March instant.
