Whitehall. April 12, 1823 WHEREAS it hath been humbly represented unto the King, that, On the morning of Sunday the 2d of March last, the body of Edward Williams, Esq. was discovered on the shore in the parish Of Piddinghoe, in the county of Sussex, and that there is reason to suppose that the said Edward Williams was murdered by some evil-disposed person or persons unknown ; His Majesty, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the persons concerned in the felony above mentioned, is hereby pleased to promise His most gracious pardon to any one of them (except the person who actually murdered the said Edward Williams), who shall discover his, or her accomplice or accomplices therein, so that he, she, or they may be apprehended and convicted thereof. ROBERT PEEL. And, as a further encouragement, a reward of TWO HUNDRED GUINEAS is hereby offered to any person (except as aforesaid) who shall discover the said offender or offenders, so that he, she, or they may be apprehended and convicted thereof. — The said reward to be paid, on conviction, by James Cook, Esq. of No. 118, North-Street, Brighton.
