Will of James Brooker of Seaford

This is the last Will and Testament of me James Brooker of Seaford in the County of Sussex Esquire. First I will order and direct that all my just debts funeral and testamentary expences be paid and discharged by my executors hereinafter named as soon as conveniently may be after my decease. I give and bequeath unto my dear wife Mary Brooker all my household furniture plate linen china glass pictures books wines spirituous and other liquors articles and things which are in my dwelling house and which I may have at the time of my decease for her own absolute benefit and also the sum of fifty pounds to be paid her immediately after my decease. Also I give devise and bequeath unto her my said dear wife all that my present dwelling house buildings garden ground and premises with their appurts situate at Seaford aforesaid and now in my own occupation to hold the said dwelling house buildings garden ground and premises with their appurts unto her my said dear wife Mary Brooker and her assigns for and during the term of her natural life and from and immediately after her decease the said messuage and premises shall go and belong to the person or persons to whom I have hereinafter devised the same. Also I give and bequeath unto my said dear wife Mary Brooker one annuity or clear yearly sum of two hundred pounds to be paid out of my personal estate by half yearly payments commencing from the day of my decease for and during the term of her natural life and I direct my executors hereinafter named to set apart a sufficient principal sum out of my personal estate and to invest the same on Government or good real security for the payment of the said annuity. I give and bequeath unto my sister Mary Newman widow of the late Mr John Newman of Alfriston in the said County of Sussex deceased one annuity or clear yearly sum of one hundred pounds to be paid to my said sister by half yearly payments and to commence from the day of my death by my executors hereinafter named out of my personal estate. Also I give and bequeath unto my brother in law Thomas Goring one clear annuity or yearly sum of thirty pounds to be paid and payable by two half yearly payments by my executors out of my personal estate to hold the said annuity unto the said Thomas Goring for and during the term of his natural life and the first payment thereof to begin and be made at the expiration of six calendar months from the time of my decease and I direct my executors to set apart sufficient sums for the purpose of raising and paying the said last mentioned annuities and from and after the decease of my said wife and the said other annuitants the respective principal monies set apart for that purpose to fall into and form part of the general residue hereinafter mentioned. Also I give and bequeath unto my nephew Thomas Goring son of the said Thomas Goring the sum of one thousand pounds to his sole use to be paid to him within six months after my decease provided always that in case my said nephew Thomas Goring shall happen to die in my life time leaving lawful issue but not otherwise such bequest of one thousand pounds shall not be considered as lapsed but shall be considered as though the same was a vested interest in him at the time of making this my Will and pass to his executors or admors and to whom ... the ... of his so dying I do hereby give and bequeath the same accordingly I give and bequeath unto my nephews Henry Beau Goring, James Goring and Thomas Goring (sons of my late brother in law John Goring deceased the brother of my dear wife) the sum of five hundred pounds apiece to be paid unto them the said Henry Beau Goring, James Goring and Thomas Goring by my said executors hereinafter named or the survivor of them within six months after my decease provided always and in case any or either of them the said Henry Beau Goring, James Goring and Thomas Goring shall happen to depart this life in my life time leaving lawful issue him or them surviving then I give and bequeath the said legacy or sum so given to such one or more so dying unto such lawful issue to be equally divided between them share
