Whitehall, June 26, 1738. Whereas on the 6th of May last, about Nine of the Clock in the Evening, the Tyle-House of Thomas Colebrooke, on Clapham Common in the County of Sussex, was, as there is great Reason to apprehend, wilfully and maliciously fit on Fire, and burnt down, whereby several Thousands of Tyles were spoiled, to his great Damage and Prejudice: His Majesty for the better discovering and bringing to Justice the Person or Persons concerned in so heinous a Crime, is pleased to promise His most gracious Pardon to any of them who shall discover his Accomplice or Accomplices, so as he or they may be apprehended and convicted thereof. HOLLES NEWCASTLE. And as a farther Encouragement for the Discovery of such Offender or Offenders, Thomas Colebrooke does hereby promise to pay the Sum of Ten Pounds to any one of the said Offenders who shall discover his Accomplice or Accomplices, so as he or they be apprehended and convicted as aforesaid.
