In the name of God Amen the xxith of Aprill 1578 I GEORGE STRINGER of the parrish of CHILTINGTON sick in bodye but whole and p[er]fect in memorye thanks be to god doe ordaine and make this my will and testament in m[a]nner and forme following First I bequeathe my Sowle unto Almightye god and my bodye to be buried in the Church yard of CHILTINGTON

Item I give to the poore of the parryshe of CHILTINGTON at my burall xiid
Item I give to RICHARD my sonne xx£ at his age of xvtene yeares and a Bras pott that is at my mothers
Item I give to THOMAS STRINGER my Kinsman twentye shillings
The rest of my goods moveable and unmoveable my debts paide and this my will fulfilled and my saide sonne RICHARD well brought upp with all things necessarye for him unto his saide age of xv yeares I give and bequeathe unto ELLIANOR my wyffe whome I make my whole executor
Item I will that yf it fortune my sonne RICHARD to dye before his age of fyftene yeares that then I will that ten pounds of his legacye to be Equallye devided between my twoe systers children and the other tenne pounds to my Executor
Item I will that ELLINOR my wyffe be bounde in sufficient bonds unto my overseers before she prove my will for the bringing upp of my saide sonne and paying of his legacye and the fulfilling of this my will. Furthermore my will is that yf ELLINOR my wyffe doe refuse to be my executor and not to stand bounde to this my will, that then I will the said ELLINOR my wyffe to have twentye pounds. And then I will that RICHARD my sonne to be my Executor in her stede and to fulfill this my will at the discression of my overseers.
Also I ordaine and make RICHARD NALDRAT my brother in lawe and JOHN HUMFRY my overseers of this my will and they to have for there paines six shillings eight pence a pece and there charges borne
