Whitehall, March 8, 1806. The King has been pleased to grant to Charles Bradley, of Burwash, in the County of Sussex, Esq; (second Son of John Bradley, of Hales Owen, in the County of Salop, by Claudia his Wife, one of the Daughters of the late Rev. James Sanxay, of Tetcott, in the County of Devon, deceased, and Cousin German of the late Rev. John Courtail, Clerk, M. A. Archdeacon of Lewes, Prebendary of Ferring, Canon Residentiary of Chichester, and Rector and Vicar of Burwash, in the County of Sussex, also deceased, ) His Royal Licence and Authority, that he and his Issue may assume and take the Surname of Courtail only, in Compliance with an Injunction contained in the last Will and Testament of the said John Courtail, bearing Date 27th April 1803, and that he may also bear the Arms of Courtail quarterly with those of Bradley; such Arms being first duly exemplified according to the Laws of Aims, and recorded in the Heralds' Office: And also to order, that this His Majesty's Concession and Declaration be registered in His College of Arms, otherwise to be void and of none effect.
