In the name of God amen This Thirtieth day of March In the yeare of our Lord God one Thousand Six hundred Fifty and Two I JOHN FORMAN of CHILTINGTON in the County of Sussex Turner being weake in body but of good remembrance (thankes be given to God therefore) doe make this my last will and testament in manner & forme following First I Commend my soule into the hands of my Saviour Jesus Christ hopeing to be Saved by the merits of his death & my body to be buryed at the will of my Executrix

Item I give and bequeath unto JOHN FORMAN my eldest sonne & to WILLIAM FORMAN my sonne & to SAMUEL CHRISTOPHER my sonne in Law to each one of them besides the severall estates wherein they are already Fynedd the severall summes of Twenty shillings a peece to be payd unto them at their severall ages of one & Twenty yeares

Item I give unto WILLIAM FORMAN my sonne all my Tooles

Item I give unto MARY FORMAN my daughter the full and whole summe of Twenty pounds of good lawfull English money to be payd unto her when shee shall accomplish her full age of One and Twenty yeares

The rest of my goods & substance moneys stocke howshold stuffe or money worth whatsoever (my debts payd & Legacyes & Funerall Expences discharged) I give and bequeath unto my […?] beloved wife whom I make & ordayne the sole Executrix of this my last will & Testament And I doe intreate CHARLES JOHNSON of BROADWATER yeoman and JOHN BARNES of BRIGHT HELMSTON Mettall mand my two Brothers to be the Overseers of this my Last will & Testament to see it p[er]formed according to my true Intent & meaning & I give them five shillings a peece for their paynes In witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand & Seale the day & yeare abovewritted Sealed Signed & delivered in the p[re]sence of

These are to vertify that JOHN FORMAN of CHILTINGTON in the County of Sussex Turner being of good understanding & memory gave instruction to me ALAN CARR Minister of the parrish of CHILTINGTON aforesaid as it is here written bearing date March 30th Anno Dom[ini] 1652 but before it could be finished & Sealed his understanding speech & memory seemed suddenly to be decayed In witness whereof I the sayd ALAN CARR have hereunto sett my hand By mee ALAN CARR.

This will was proved at SUTTON before Mr Aquila[…?] Clerke Surrogate &c the XXI?th day of JUNE in the yeare of our Lord God 1652 by the oath of MARY FORMAN the Relict of the sayd deceased and Executrix thereunto whome was Committed the administration of the goods &c Shee being first sworne well and faithfully to administer the ame &cs.
