WHITEHALL, April 21, 1870. The Queen has been pleased to grant unto Charles William Willock, of Burton Hill, in the parish of Barlavington, in the county of Sussex, Gentleman, only son of Alexander Charles Willock, late of Woolwich, in the county of Kent, a Lieutenant in the Royal Regiment of Artillery, by Harriet Maria, his wife, only daughter of John Dawes the elder, of Highbury, in the county of Middlesex, Gentleman, all deceased, Her Royai licence and authority that he and his issue may, in compliance with a clause contained in the last will and testament of his maternal uncle, John Dawes the younger, late of Foley Place, in the said county of Middlesex, Esquire, the eldest son of the said John Dawes the elder, take and henceforth use the surname of Dawes only, in lieu and instead of that of Willock, and that he and they may bear the arms of Dawes quarterly with those of Willock ; such arms being first duly exemplified according to the laws of arms, and recorded in the College of Arms, otherwise the said Royal licence and permission to be void and of none effect:.
