In the name of God Amen in the yere of owre Lorde God one thowsande fyve hundreth threscore and sixe the xxiiith day of October I Nicholas Durrante thelder of the pishe of Wadherste in the Countie of Sussex yeoman beinge sicke of bodye and in pfitte remembrannce lawde and praise be unto Almightie God do ordeyne and make this my pute testamente and laste will in manner and forme followinge. That is to saye. First I bequeath my sowle to Almightie God my maker and redemer. And my bodye to the yerthe when it shall please God. Item I give and bequeath unto the poore people of Wadherste xxs to be bestowed at the daye of my buriall. Item I give and bequeath unto ev’ye one of my Godchildren xiid a peice. Item I give and bequeath unto Katheren my wief tenne pownds of good and lawfull money of Englande to be payde her wthin one monneth nexte after my decease. Also I give unto my wief the beste bedde that was hers and all that belongeth to the makinge of a bedde, with twoe pewter platters and twoe pewter disshes. Twoe pewter sawcers of an indifferente sorte, and a brasse potte the beste that was hers and one cowe of an indifferente sorte. Item I give and bequeath unto my dawghter Wodmans children that is to saye Nicholas and Nicholas and Johane twentie powndes of lawfull money of England to ev’ie of them vil xiiis iiiid a peice to be payde to ev’ye of them as they come to the age of twentie yeres. And for the sayde Johane yf she marrye before the age of xx yeres my will is that she shall have it at the daye of her mariage or ells at the daye aforesayde yf she be not then maryed. And yf any of them dye before the receipte due there of the sayde pte and .... then the over lyveres or over lyver to have the parte of the deceased equally shifted amonge them. Item I give and bequeath unto my sonne John Durrants children that is to saye to Agnes, Johane, Alice and Elizabeth to ev’ye of them vil xiiis iiid a peice of lawfull money of Englande to be payde to ev’ye of them at the daye or dayes of sev’all mariage. And yf any of them dye before receipte due of the sayde pte and bequeathe then the ov’lyvers or ov’lyver to have the pte of the deceased equally shifted amonge them. Item I give and bequeathe unto Elizabeth my dawghter wief of William Page tenne pownds of lawfull money of Englande to be payde to her within one whole yere nexte after my decease. And I give to the iiii children of William Page my sonne and of my sonne and of my sayde daughter Elizabeth his wief to ev’ye of them iiil vis viiid a peice of lawfull money of Englande to be payde unto them wtin one yere nexte after my decease. Item I give to the three children of my daughter Atkyne to ev’ie of them xls apeice of lawfull money of Englande to be payde unto them and ev’ye of them at the age of xxi yeres and for the ii daughters to be payde at the daye of mariage or at thage aforesayde whiche of them firste happen. And yf anye of these iii children dye before the receipte of these bequeth be due my will ys that the other shalbe his or her heire equally shifted amonge them. Item I give and bequeathe unto my kyne folkes xs to be geven unto them at the discretion of my executor and overseers at the daye of my buryall. Also yf my wief be with childe I geve and bequeathe unto that childe fiftie powndes of lawfull money of Englande to be payde unto the same childe at the age of xxth yeres or ells at the daye of mariage. And my will ys yf she be not withe childe that then the same bequeth of ll to remayne and abyde onely in the custodye and to the use of myne executor and his heires. The residue of all my moveable goods not geven or bequeathed my funerall expenses and legacies firste payde and discharged by myne executor here under named I geve and bequeathe to Nicholas Durrante my sonne whome I ordeyne and make my sole executor of this my testam’t & laste will. And I make and ordeyne John Berham of Wadherste aforesaid and William Page of Barcombe my ov’seers and to ev’ye of them I give xs for theire paynes to see this my will pformed and executed.

This ys the laste will and testament of me the abovenamed Nicholas Durrante thelder towchinge the disposicon of all my landes and tents made and declared in writinge the daye and yere firste above written. Firste I geve and bequeath all my landes and tenements mannors rents services and hereditaments wth thappurtenncs and comodities set lyinge and beinge in Wodherste, Frante, Lambherste and Herstemonncux in the Countie of Sussex or ells where within the realme of Englande to my sonne Nicholas Durrante and to his heires forever. Item my will is that and yf myne executor do not fulfyll my will and legacies above bequeathed, that then my will ys that my ov’seers or overseer John Berham and William Page shall enter and to them take to sell for to levie and paye suche legacies as is above named. The same my landes called by these names Lowbuckherste with a garden plotte by estymacon iiii acres more or lesse, Abrucke Meade by estymacon sixe acres, the Lowsynder Hill by estymacon iii acres more or lesse and Chappel Feylde by estymacon xii acres more or lesse. Also my will ys that if it come to that, that my ov’seers or ov’seer doe enter uppon the same lands above sayde and that they sell yt to levell or paye my legacies then the ov’plus of the same landes to remayne unto my executor and to his heires. Item I give and bequeathe unto William Cheseman xxs of good and lawfull money of Englande to be payde wtin one moneth nexte after my decease. Also I give to Elizabeth Bele xxs of good and lawfull money of Englande to be payde with in one monnth nexte after my decease. Also I bequeath to Katheren my wief the beste cheste that she browghte unto me. Also unto my sayde wief the side saddell with the coverings unto hym. Also I give her a peticote clothe.
