Whitehall, November 28, 1801. The King has been pleased to grant unto Thomas Cooper, of Arlington, in the County of Sussex, Esq; His Royal Licence and Authority, that he and his Issue may take and use the Surname of Tourle instead of the Surname of Cooper, and also bear the Arms of Tourle, in compliance with an Injunction contained in the last Will and Testament of John Tourle, late of Landport, in the Parish of St. John, under the Castle of Lewes, in the said County, Gentleman, deceased; such Arms being first duly exemplified according to the Laws of Arms, and recorded in the Heralds’ Office: And also to order, that this His Majesty's Concession and Declaration be registered in His College of Arms.
