Will of William Pattison of Peasmarsh

Date signed: 16 Apr 1733, Probate date: 21 Aug 1733

The last will and testament of William Pattison of Peasmarsh in the county of Sussex, yeoman.

In the name of God, Amen, the sixteenth day of April in the year of our Lord, one thousand seven hundred and thirty three, I William Pattison of Peasmarsh in the county of Sussex, yeoman, being sick and weak in body, but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be given to God therefore, calling to mind the mortality of my body, to that it is appointed unto all men once to die, do make and ordain my last will and testament, that is to say, principally and first of all, I give and recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it, and for my body I recommend it to the earth to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner, at the discretion of my executor hereafter mentioned, not doubting but at the general resurrection to receive the same again by the mighty power of God.

And as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life, I give, devise and dispose of the same in the following manner:

Imprimis, I give unto my daughter Elizabeth Holt, widow, the sum of fifty pounds of lawful money of Great Britain;

Item: I give unto my daughter Mary Waylett, widow, the sum of two hundred pounds of lawful money of Great Britain;

Item: I give unto Elizabeth Godwin, the sum of ten pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to buy her a suit of mourning,

Item: I give unto my son Thomas Pattison, whom I likewise constitute, make and ordain my only and sole executor of this my last will and testament, all my ready money, all my goods, chattels and utensils whatsoever.

Item: I beg and desire my good friend Mr Isaac Crittell with his advice to help to assist my aforesaid executor Thomas Pattison.

And I do hereby declare, pronounce, to confirm this and no other, to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand to seal the day and year above written.

William Pattison
