Beckley, (East Sussex)

Parish picture

Although now a quiet village, Beckley was once a centre of the Wealden iron industry; Beckley Furnace was the site of an iron furnace powered by a watermill which was built in 1578. All Saints church is situated at the far west of the village.

Parish picture

Beckley was mentioned in the will of King Alfred the Great and the church contains evidence of Saxon workmanship, for example the herringbone stonework on the tower.

Parish picture

Sadly the former Wesleyan Church in Beckley is no longer used for worship since the local Methodist congregations combined and now meet in Brede.
