St Helen's Parish Church is situated at the top of Hangleton Way and is a Grade II listed building.

Parish picture

There has always been much debate about how why this church stands alone, without an ancient village around it; theories include the Black Death, a devastating lighting strike or perhaps just natural migration of the population away from this bleak hill top.

Whatever the cause, it is likely the low population probably saved St Helen's from the Victorian 'restorers'. Today much of the medieval fabric remains, the inside having more changes to make a living building more suitable for today's worship, while retaining a few original features.

Nowadays, the advancing modern housing of Hove is slowly surrounding the old building, giving it once again a community to shelter.
