Will of Henry Heasman of Mayfield

In the name of God, Amen: the third daie of June in the yeare of our Lord God One thowsand six hundreth fortie and one I Henry Heasman of Mayfield in the Countie of Sussex Warpspinner sick in bodie but of good and perfect remembraince I praise God for it doe ordaine and make this my last will and testament in manner and forme followinge ffirst I bequeath my soule to Almightie God my most mercifull ffather in Christ hopinge to be saved by the merritts death and passion of Jesus Christ my Lord and onlie Saviour And my bodie to be buryed in some decent place of Christian buryall Item I doe give untothe poore of the parish where I shall happen to dye twentie shillinges to be distributed amongest them.

Item I give unto Anne my wife the grasse growinge upon Pollard Wish and the oates and Beanes that I have nowe growinge

Item I give unto Anne my lovinge wife the some of tenn poundes of good and lawfull money of England to be paid unto her within one month next after my decease

Item I give unto the said Anne my wife halfe of my howshould stuff whatsoever And I give unto her my said wife a Cowe alsoe. Alsoe I give unto the said Anne my wife the some of three poundes by the yere out of my howse and lands in Mayfield duringe her n[atu]rall life To bee paid unto her halfe yerelie as longe as shee shall live But if my said wife hall happen to marry againe then my will is that shee shall not have the said three pounds a yere out of my said lands

Item my will and mynde is that Anne my wife shall have my howses barne Closes and lands with thappurtennces to bringe upp my three yongest Children untill my yongest sonne ffrancis shall come to bee fowerteene yeres of age for and duringe his naturall life And after the decease of the said Robert I give the said howse barnes and closes gardens and lands with thappurtennces unto Henry the sonne of the said Robert my sonne and to his heires for ever

(The following paragraph added in the margin) "Item I give unto my sonne Robert my howse barne closes lands after the said ffrancis my sonne shalbee full fourteene yeares of age"

Item I give unto the said Robert my Eldest sonne twelve pence to be paid unto him w[i]thin six monthes next after my decease

Item I give unto my daughter Alice the wife of Robert Marton five pounds To be paid unto her within six monethes next after my decease

Item I give unto William Poccoke(?) who marryed my daughter Mary twelve pence to be paid unto him w[i]thin one moneth next after my decease

Item I give unto my sonne Henry fortie poundes to be paid unto him within six monethes next after my decease

Item I give unto my Daughter Sarah the some of thirtie pounds of lawfull money of England To be paid unto her within six monethes next after my decease

Item I give unto my daughter Sarah the other halfe of my howshould stuff to be equally devided betweene Anne my wife and Sarah my daughter

Item I give unto my three yongest children William Thomas and ffrancis fortie poundes a peece to be paid within one whole yere next after my decease to Richard Humphrey my brother that they may have the profitt of the said money towards their maintenance and educacon And my will and mynde is that if anie my said sonnes William Thomas and ffranncis shall happen to dye before they shall come to the full age of one and twentie yeres that the survivour or survivours shall enioy the porcon of the deceased And alsoe I give unto my sonne William one good Cowe

Item I give unto Mary the daughter of William Poccock the some of tenn poundes which her father doth owe unto mee and is nowe in her fathers hands to be paid unto her by her said father w[i]thin one whole yere next after my decease

Item I give unto William Marten the sonne of Robert Marten fiftie shillinges to be paid unto him at one and twentie yeres of age

Item I give unto Anne Marten the some of three poundes to be paid unto her w[i]thin one whole yere next after my decease

Item I give unto my daughter Elizabeth the wife of John Bassett five pounds to be paid unto her w[i]thin six monethes next after my decease

Item I give unto Anne the daughter of Robert Heasman fiftie shillinges to be paid unto her at twentie yeres of age

Item I give unto Henry the sonne of my said sonne Robert fiftie shillinges

All the residue of my goods my debts and legacies firsf paid I give unto my sonne John whome I make the ole Executor of this my last will and testament

Item I give unto the wife of Robert Heasman the some of five poundes to be paid unto her within one whole yere next after my decease

Item I give unto Dorothy the wife of John Heasman the some of five poundes to be paid within one whole yere next after my decease And I doe nomynate and appoint my lovinge ffriends Robert Rolfe and my Brother Richard Humphrey to be Overseers of this my last will and testament And I give to either of them over and above their Charges five shillinges a peece
