The parish church is dedicated to St John the Baptist and is the most westerly church in the Diocese of Chichester. The present building is 13th century with extensive rebuilding work executed in the 15th century, although there has been a place of worship on the site since Saxon times.
The yew trees beside the path were also planted in the 15th century and it is said they form the oldest yew avenue in England.
