In the name of god Amen the fyste daye of Maye in the yeare of our Lord god 1596 I THOMAS BOTTINGE of the parishe of WESTGRINSTEAD in the Countye of Sussex yeoman beinge in perfect memorye at the makeinge hereof tha[nks] be given to allmighty god doe ordayne and make this my presente best[owal?] concerninge my last will in manner and forme following First I bequeath my Soule into the hands of almighty god my Saviour and redeemer and my bodye to be buried in the Churchyarde of GRYNSTEADE

Item I give and bequeath to the mother Church of Chichester iiiid

Item I give and bequeath to the poore people of GRINSTED xs to be distributed by my Executors

Item I give and bequeath to ELIZABETH my daughter xx£ and one feather bed the best

Item I give and bequeath to THOMAS BOTTINGE my sonne x£ and a blacke horse and one brasse pot

Item I give and bequeath to RICHARD BOTTINGE my sonne my best yoke of oxen
