Singleton is perhaps mostly known as the location of the Weald and Downland Open Air Museum, which is situated on the outskirts of the village. Over forty historic building have been rescued from various places in Sussex, dismantled and re-erected on the site.
To the south of the parish lies Goodwood Park, adjacent to the famous race course and in Singleton Forest, to the north, surprisingly, can be found an oil well. The parish also includes the hamlet of Charlton, which was used for the location filming of the Doctor Who serial 'Terror of the Zygons', in which it masquaraded as a fictional Scottish village called Tullock.
The village once had a railway station which served the village between 1880 and 1953. The station was subsequently converted into a residence.
