In the name of God Amen I RICHARD GREENFIELD of FLUSHERS in the parish of WEST CHILTINGTON in the County of Sussex yeoman being sick & weak in body but of sound & p[er]fect mind and memory praised be given therefore unto Almighty God Doe make & ordaine this my last Will & Testament in manner following (that is to say) I com[m]end my Soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it me & my body to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executor herein after named & as for my worldly goods Estate Lands & Chattells I give & bequeath in manner following Imprimis I will that my Debts & funeral charges be first paid & discharged by my Executor

It[em] I give & bequeath unto my Son RICHARD GREENFIELD all that my Messuage or Tenement & Five & Twenty acres of land (be the same more or less) called FLUSHERS with all & every of th’app[ur]t[en]unces thereunto belonging situate lying & being in the parish of WESTCHILTINGTON aforesaid To have and to hold th’aforesaid messuage or Tenement Lands p[re]mises with th’app[ur]t[en]uncesunto my said son RICHARD GREENFIELD & to his heires & assignes forever

Item I give & bequeath unto my Children ANNE WILLIAM THOMAS JOANE & DANIEL GREENFIELD each of them the sum[m] of Ten pounds to be paid unto them by my Executor when the youngest of them shall come to the age of One & Twenty years But if any of them the said ANNE WILLIAM THOMAS JOANE or DANIEL shall happen to depart this life be[fore?] he or she shall attain to the age of One & Twenty years That then the said Ten pounds of the dec[eas]ed shall be equally divided amongst the Surviving Children But if my Uncle WILLIAM GREENFIELD of CHARLEWOOD in Surrey should give unto my said son WILLIAM GREENFIELD a piece or p[ar]cell of land at the time of his death then my Will & meaning is that my Son WILLIAM shall have but Ten Shillings & the remainder thereof being nine pounds & Ten shillings to be equally divided amongst my Four Children ANNE THOMAS JOANE & DANIEL when the youngest of them shall come to the age of One & Twenty years

Item I give & bequeath unto my loving wife ELIZABETH GREENFIELD the ann[u]all Rent or sum[m] of Three pounds a year to be paid unto her out of the rents Issues & profits of my Lands called FLUSHERS over & above & besides her Thirds of the saif Lands called FLUSHERS by my Executor half yearly soe long as she shall remaine a Widow & to com[m]ence from the day of my death Also I give & bequeath unto ELIZABETH my wife the bed which was hers formerly & all that belongs to it & one pair of Sheets when she shall depart from my son RICHARD and also to have her Dwelling in my said house so long as they shall agree

Item I give & bequeath unto my loving Children ELIZABETH MARY SARAH HANNAH JOHN

& JANE GREENFIELD the sum[m] of Twenty shillings of lawfull money of Great Britain to be paid by my Executor when the youngest of them shall come to the age of One & Twenty years

Item my will meaning & hearty desire is that my Son RICHARD shall be at the costs & charges of the bringing up of my younger Children (that is to say) ANNE WILLIAM THOMAS JOANE & DANIEL until the shall attain to the sev[er]all ages of Sixteen years of age

Item I doe constitute & appoint my trusty & wellbeloved friend RICHARD CRAGG of SHIPLEY in the said County yeom[an] & my brother JOHN GREENFIELD of WESTCHILTINGTON aforesaid to be my Executors in Trust to see this my last Will & Testament p[er]formed as it is above declared

All the rest of my p[er]sonall Estate goods & chattels unbequeathed I give devise & bequeath unto my Eldest Son RICHARD GREENFIELD whom I doe appoint & ordaine Executor of this my last Will & Testament In Witness whereof I the said RICHARD GREENFIELD the Testator have hereunto sett my hand & seal the Second Day of June in the Thirteenth year of the reigne of our Sov[er]aigne Lady Queen Anne over Great Britain &c Annoq[ue] D[omi]ni 1714 – RICHARD GREENFIELD – Signed Sealed published & declared to be the last Will & Testament of the said RICHARD GREENFIELD the Testator in the p[re]sence of us who subscribed our names as Witnesses in the p[re]sence of the Testator – JOHN DEAN - HENRY FEESTS his mark – JOHN WILMER
