Will of Thomas Bread of Warbleton

Date signed: 16 Jun 1567, Probate date: 07 Oct 1597

In the name of god amen, the sixteenth of June 1567 I Thomas Bread of the parish of Warbleton in the county of Sussex and in the diocese of Chichester being sick in body and in good and perfect remembrance thanks be given to Almighty God do make ordain and constitute this my present last will and testament in manner and form following

First and principally I give and bequeath my soul unto Almighty God my maker and redeemer and my body to be buried in the churchyard of Warbleton or where it shall please God.

Item I give and bequeath to the poor men's box 4d.

Item I give and bequeath to Elizabeth my wife all my freehold land within the parish of Warbleton to have to her use and profit until my son Thomas come to the age of twenty-one years and for the behofe and bringing up of my children.

Item I give to Margaret and Armala my two daughters to each of them £5 apiece to be paid to them at the age of twenty years.

Item I will and if my wife fortune to be with child and to have a woman child then my very will is that she shall have …... marks out of the £10 before given to Margaret and Armala.

Item I give and bequeath to Thomas my son a iron chest and a iron table to be delivered to him if my wife do fortune to marry at the day of her marriage or the age of twenty-one years if she marry not.

Also I will and bequeath to my two daughters Margaret and Armala to each of them a pair of sheets to be delivered unto them ..….. the day of my wife 's marriage if she fortune to marry. Item I will that my wife shall have the profit of all my land until my son Thomas come to the age of twenty-one years and she to ? lend maintain and keep tenant-like to their use the said term all the said buildings and housing. Also I give and bequeath to Elizabeth my wife all the residue of my goods not before given nor bequeathed I give and bequeath wholly whom I make and ordain my sole executrix to this my last will performed and my debts to be paid.

Item I will that Henry STROKES and William STACYE to be my overseers and their charges to be borne by my executrix.
