With reference to the announcement of the undermentioned awards which appeared in the London Gazette of the 12th December, 1919, the following are the acts of gallantry for which the awards were made:— (France and Flanders unless otherwise stated. ) AWARDED THE DISTINGUISHED CONDUCT MEDAL. 200004 C. /S. /M. (a. /R. /S. /M. ) G. Manvell, 4th Bn. , R. Suss. R. (Brighton). For gallantry and devotion to duty throughout the war. On all occasions he has shown great coolness under fire, and by his personal example has inspired all ranks. His services were particularly outstanding near Soissons on the 29th July, 1918, when he assisted in controlling the advance under heavy shell fire until himself wounded.
