With reference to the announcement of the undermentioned awards, which appeared in the London Gazette of the 1st January, 1919, the following are the acts of gallantry for which the awards were made: — AWARDED THE DISTINGUISHED CONDUCT MEDAL. 200036 C. /Q. /M. /S. F. Slaughter, 4th Bn. , R. Suss. R. (Arundel). During the period 25th February to 16th September, 1918, he has carried out his duties with the greatest energy and zeal. During operations near Grand Rozoy, and in the line, he has superintended the distribution of rations, to his company often under heavy fire, setting a fine example of devotion to duty. On one occasion near Kemmel in September the driver of the limber on which he was taking up rations was wounded by a shell. Through unaccustomed to animals, he mounted and drove the limber himself, bringing the rations to his company.
