With reference to the award of the Distinguished Conduct Medal conferred as announced in the London Gazette dated 19th November, 1917, the following are the statements of service for which the decoration was conferred: — 616 Col. /Sjf. (T. /R. S. M. ) J. Le Huray, Lan. Fus. (Crowborough Warren). For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During operations this warrant officer did excellent work, his organising of carrying parties, collecting of ammunition and sending it forward under heavy shell fire being exceptional. At one period, under heavy machine-gun fire, he went back himself and brought up S. O. S. signals.
