Harrison's description (1911):

Restored and enlarged in 1860-2. This church has been considerably altered, but retains some of the original features in the nave and tower. The latter is in four sections - the lowest, Nor.; the second, Tr.-Nor.; then Perp.; and the top is modern. The Tr.-Nor. pillars and arches with clerestory windows are good work. Note: capital of the column in the S. aisle near the door with grotesque figures on it - on N. face the Crucifixion, on W. our Lord's Baptism, on S. couchant lions and foliage, E. is defaced; under arched recess, S. of tower (found in 1778), the sculpture representing St. Michael and the Dragon; and the stone coffin. Reg. 1558.

In the garden of the "Folly" (in Church Street) is an E.E. crypt.
