With reference to the announcement of the undermentioned awards which appeared in the London Gazette of the 1st January, 1919, the following are the acts of gallantry for which the awards were made : DISTINGUISHED CONDUCT MEDAL. 374413 Sjt. A. E. J. Knight, 163rd Sge. By. , R. G. A. {Brighton). On 21/22nd March, 1918, on Arras Front, when in a forward position at Guemappe, he did splendid work as A. /Sjt. /Maj. to the Detached Section. On these dates the section was under continuous shell fire. On 22nd March orders were received to pull out and withdraw by 4 a. m. By his valuable help and entire disregard for danger he enabled his Captain to get away all stores, guns, and 1, 000 shell. This N. C. O. exposed himself continuously, encouraging the men and set a fine example to the remainder of the battery.
