Will of Mary Ashby of Chiddingly

In the name of God Amen I Mary Ashby of Crowhurst in the County of Sussex spinster being of sound mind memory and understanding thanks be given to Almighty God therefore but considering the uncertainty of this mortal life do make and declare my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say) I give and bequeath all my cloaths and wearing apparel of what nature or kind soever unto my three sisters Elizabeth Evans, Ann Hedger and Elianor Goddard and my niece Elizabeth Ashby daughter of my brother Samuel Ashby to be equally divided among them share and share alike and from and after payment of my just debts funeral expences and the charge of proving this my Will I give and bequeath all the rest residue and remainder of my money goods chattels rights credits and personal estate of what nature or kind soever and wheresoever unto my brother Samuel Ashby and my said three sisters Elizabeth Evans, Ann Hedger and Eleanor Goddard to be equally divided among them share and share alike and lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my said sister Elizabeth Evans sole executrix of this my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I the said Mary Ashby have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and seal this seventh day of October in the seventeenth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third by the grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King defender of the faith and so forth and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy seven. A Codicil made this six day of December one thousand seven hundred and sixty six. This Will was proved at London with a Codicil the twenty second day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty nine before the Right Worshipful Sir William Wynne, Knight, Doctor of Laws, Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oath of Elizabeth Ewen otherwise Evans widow the sister of the deceased and sole executrix named in the said Will to whom administration was granted of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased she having been first sworn by Commission duly to Administer
