During the early 20th century the home of Mr Richard Sharp (born about 1844 at Boxgrove) became a celebrated tourist destination. For reasons known only to himself, Mr Sharp had covered the walls and ceilings of his rooms with postage stamps. Not content with this, he also created festoons and covered screens and other furniture with stamps too, making his home unique.
North Bersted was created from the parish of South Bersted.
