Built as an offshoot to the Mayfield Parish in 1921 during the incumbency (at Mayfield) of the Rev. G. C. Pitt-Johnson.
The Eastbourne Aviation Company was founded in 1900 and over 200 Avro fighter planes were built at their works at the eastern end of Eastbourne during the 1914-18 war. When the site closed, one of the buildings was transported to Five Ashes and converted into this little church.
