WE, the Ecclesiastical Commissioners for England, acting in pursuance of the Act of the twenty-ninth and thirtieth years of Her Majesty, chapter one hundred and eleven, sections five and eleven, do hereby, subject as hereinafter mentioned, grant and appropriate out of our common fund to the vicarage of Saint John's Common, in the county of Sussex, and in the diocese of Chichester, one capital sum of one hundred pounds sterling, to be applicable towards defraying the cost of repairing and improving the parsonage or house of residence of the said vicarage, according to plans and a specification approved or to be approved by us: Provided always that the said capital sum of one hundred pounds sterling, expressed to be hereby granted and appropriated to the said vicarage of Saint John's Common, shall he and be taken to be in lieu of and in substitution for a portion amounting to three pounds six shillings and eight pence of the yearly sum or stipend of thirteen pounds nineteen shillings and four pence heretofore payable by us, the said Commissioners, to the Incumbent, for the time being, of the said vicarage, under the authority of an instrument sealed by us on the eleventh day of November, in the year one thousand eight hundred and seventy-five, and published in the London Gazette oh the nineteenth day of the same month.

In witness whereof, we have hereunto set our common seal, this sixth day of November, in the year one thousand eight hundred and ninety. (L.S.)
