Harrison's description (1911):

ST. MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL. Restored in 1874. John Evelyn, in his diary, thus writes: "1627 ... About this time was the consecration of the church of South Malling, near Lewes, the building , whereof was chiefly procured by my grandfather (Standsfield), who having the impropriation, gave £20 a year out of it to this church. I afterwards sold the impropriation. I layd one of the first stones of the building of the church ... " There are two brasses on the floor. Reg. 1629.
