The KING'S Most Excellent Majesty in Council.

"WHEREAS the Ecclesiastical Commissioners for England have, in pursuance of the Act of the seventh and eighth years of Her late Majesty Queen Victoria, chapter ninety-four; of the Act of the thirteenth and fourteenth years of Her said late Majesty, chapter ninety-four; and of the Act of the thirty-second and thirty-third years of Her said late Majesty, chapter ninety-four, duly prepared and laid before His Majesty in Council a scheme or representation, bearing date the ninth day of March, in the year one thousand nine hundred and eleven, in the words and figures following, that is to say:β€”

"We, the Ecclesiastical Commissioners for England, acting under the provisions of the Act of the seventh and eighth years of Her late Majesty Queen Victoria, chapter ninety-four, of the Act of the thirteenth and fourteenth years of Her said late Majesty, chapter ninety-four, and of the Act of the Thirty-second and thirty-third years of Her said late Majesty, chapter ninety-four, have prepared and now humbly lay before Your Majesty in Council the following scheme or representation for altering the boundaries of the new parish of Saint Wilfrid, Cuckfield, in the county of Sussex and in the diocese of Chichester.

"Whereas by the authority of an Order of Her said late Majesty in Council bearing date the sixteenth day of February in the year one thousand eight hundred and sixty-six and published in the London Gazette on the twentieth day of the same month, part of the parish of Cuckfield, in the said county and diocese, was assigned as a district chapelry to the consecrated church of Saint Wilfrid, situate at Hayward's Heath, in the said parish of Cuckfield, and the said district chapelry was named β€œThe district chapelry of Saint Wilfrid, Cuckfield.”

"And whereas the said district chapelry of Saint Wilfrid, Cuckfield, has, under the provisions of the Act of the nineteenth and twentieth years of Her said late Majesty, chapter one hundred and four, become a new parish of the character contemplated by that Act, by the Act of the sixth and seventh years of Her said late Majesty, chapter thirty-seven, and by the above-mentioned Act of the thirty-second, and thirty-third years of Her said late Majesty, chapter ninety-four.

"And whereas it has been represented to us and it appears to us to be expedient that the boundaries of the said new parish of Saint Wilfrid, Cuckfield, should be altered in the manner which is hereinafter mentioned.

"Now therefore with the consent of the Right Reverend Charles John, Bishop of the said diocese of Chichester, (in testimony whereof he has signed and sealed this scheme or representation), we, the said Ecclesiastical Commissioners, humbly represent, recommend and propose that from and after the day of the date of the publication in the London Gazette of any Order of Your Majesty in Council ratifying this scheme or representation and without any assurance in the law other than such duly gazetted Order the boundaries of the said new parish of Saint Wilfrid, Cuckfield, shall be altered so that all those portions of the parish of Lindfield, in the said county of Sussex and in the said diocese of Chichester, and of the said parish of Cuckfield, which are described in the Schedule hereunder written and are delineated and set forth upon the map or plan hereunto annexed and are thereon coloured pink and green respectively, shall be annexed to and shall in future form part of the said new parish of Saint Wilfrid, Cuckfield.

"And we further represent, recommend, and propose that nothing herein contained shall prevent us from representing, recommending, or proposing any other measures relating to the matters aforesaid or any of them in accordance with the provisions of the hereinbefore mentioned Acts or of any of them or of any other Act of Parliament.

"The SCHEDULE to which the foregoing Scheme or Representation has reference.

"The territory to be annexed to the new parish of Saint Wilfrid, Cuckfield, in the county of Sussex and in the diocese of Chichester, being:β€”

"I. All that portion of the parish of Lindfield, in the said county and diocese, which is bounded upon part of the south by the parish of Wivelsfield, in the said county and diocese, upon the remaining part of the south and upon the south-west by the said new parish of Saint Wilfrid, Cuckfield, upon the west and upon the north by the parish of Cuckfield, in the said county and diocese, and upon the remaining sides, that is to say, upon the north-east and upon the south-east, by an imaginary line commencing at the point near the southern end of Stave's Copse, where the boundary which divides the said parish of Cuckfield from the said parish of Lindfield crosses the middle of the main line of the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway, and extending thence southward along the middle, of the said line of railway for a distance of fortyr-three chains and a half or thereabouts to the centre of the bridge which carries such line of railway across Balcombe Road, and extending thence eastward along the middle of Balcombe Road for a distance of one chain and a half or thereabouts to the junction of Balcombe Road with College Road, and extending thence north-eastward along the middle of College Road for a distance of thirty-eight chains or thereabouts to the junction of College Road with Scracebridge Lane, and extending thence southward along the middle of Scracebridge Lane for a distance of twenty-seven chains or thereabouts to the centre of Scrace Bridge, which carries such lane across Scrace Brook, and extending thence first south-eastward and then in various directions along the middle of Scrace Brook for a distance of sixty-five chains or thereabouts to a point opposite to the northern end of the fence forming the eastern boundary of the close numbered 1 upon the map or plan annexed to this scheme or representation, and extending thence first southward to and then generally southwestward along the said fence and along the fences forming the eastern boundaries of the closes numbered 2 and 3 upon the said map or plan for a distance of twenty-five chains or thereabouts to the point where the fence forming the eastern boundary of the said close numbered 3 meets the northern side of America Lane, and extending thence first southward across such lane to the northern end of the fence forming the eastern boundary of the close numbered 4 upon the said map or plan and then south-westward along such fence and along the fence forming the eastern boundary of the close numbered 5 upon the said map or plan for a distance in all of fourteen chains or thereabouts to the point where the last-mentioned fence meets the boundary which divides the said parish of Lindfield from the said parish of Wivelsfield.

"II. And also all that portion of the said parish of Cuckfield, which is bounded upon the south, and upon the east -by the said parish of Lindfield, upon the north by the parish of Ardingly, in the said county and diocese, and upon the remaining side, that is to say, upon the west, by an imaginary line commencing upon the boundary which divides the said parish of Ardingly from the said parish of Cuckfield at the junction of Copyhold Lane with Bordehill Lane, and extending thence southward along the middle of Bordehill Lane for a distance of twenty-three chains or thereabouts to a point opposite to the north-west corner of Flat Wood, and extending thence eastward in a straight line to the point on the eastern side of Bordehill Lane at the said northwest corner of Flat Wood, upon the boundary which divides the said parish of Cuckfield from the said parish of Lindfield."

And whereas drafts of the said scheme or representation have been transmitted to the patrons and to the incumbents of the cures affected by the arrangements which are contemplated by such scheme or representation and such patrons and incumbents have respectively signified their assent thereto.

And whereas the said scheme or representation has been approved by His Majesty in Council."

Now, therefore, His Majesty, by and with the advice of His said Council, is pleased hereby to ratify the said scheme or representation, and to order and direct that the same and every part thereof shall be effectual in law immediately from and after the time when this Order shall have been duly published in the London Gazette pursuant to the said Acts. And His Majesty, by and with the like advice, is pleased hereby to direct that this Order be forthwith registered by the Registrar of the said diocese of Chichester.
