Monumental Inscription Detail

Place:

St Peter, Folkington

Inscription:

In memory of one most beloved
MARY EARLE Widow of
JAMES EGLINTON GWYNNE
of Folkington, Michelham and Wootton
and fifth daughter of William Purvis
of Fifeshire. She was for many years
a devoted worshipper in this Church.
Born the 28th of September 1843
Died the 12th of September 1922
For nearly fourscore years her large
discerning mind kept pace with
her great and tender heart both
quickened by the love of Christ.
Those who knew her and many
who knew her not were the better
that she lived. In His good
time God answered her prayer
and took her to Himself for
Jesus Christ his sake. Amen.
Thy love to me was wonderful.
This Tablet was erected by her
devoted youngest son Richard.
