JEVINGTON is a parish in the Union of Eastbourne, Hundred of Willingdon, and Rape of Pevensey 5 miles south-west from Hailsham, and 10 miles south-east from Lewes: the village is small: it consists of a few scattered houses and situated under the range of south down about half a mile west of the road from Lewes to Eastbourne. The church, dedicated to St Andrew is a small ancient structure. The area is 1,790 acres, and the population is 329 assessed at £1,807. The benefice a rectory, valued at £300 per annum, in the patronage of the Earl of Burlington. Letters received from Lewes.
