Cpl. EDWARD HENTY GOLDSMITH

G/3257 ‘D’ Coy. 9th Bn Royal Sussex Regiment
Died age 20 years on 7 June 1917

 

Son of Thomas and Emily Goldsmith of 2 Ivy Cottages Wannock.
The Goldsmith and Henty familes were Blacksmiths in Jevington.

Remembered with Honour

Edward has no known grave and is named on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial BELGIUM

Ypres, now named Ieper is a town in the province of West Flanders. The Menin Gate is one of four memorials to the missing in Belgian Flanders. The Gate bears the names of 54,000 officers and men whose graves are not known. There were three battles of Ypres October 1914, April 1915 and again in 1917.
